HIS HOLINESS
KARMA KUCHEN RINPOCHE

The 5th Karma Kuchen Rinpoche was born in the
year of Iron Dog, along with many auspicious signs in
Southern India. When he was 2 years old, His Holiness Pema
Norbu Rinpoche (the 11th Throne Holder of Palyul
Lineage) notified his parents that their son is the
reincarnation of a great mahasiddha, and his food and
clothing have to be clean.
When H.H Karma Kuchen Rinpoche was 4 years old, both the
late H.H. Dudjom Rinpoche (also the manifestation of Guru
Rinpoche) and H.H. Penor Rinpoche confirmed that this
child is the unmistaken incarnation of the 4th
Karma Kuchen Rinpoche (Karma Thegchog Nyingpo) in their
meditations. He was then invited to Namrdoling Monastery
where H.H. Penor Rinpoche looked after him and provided him
with basic education. H.H. Karma Kuchen Rinpoche studied and
perfected the teachings of Namcho (Sky Teachings)
preliminaries (ordinary and extraordinary), Tsalung
and up to Dzogpachenpo under the direct guidance of
H.H. Penor Rinpoche. He also took the Bhikshu and
Bodhisattva vows, and received the Namcho, Ratna
Lingpa’s revelations and Rinchen Terzoed
empowerments from H.H. Penor Rinpoche. In addition, he
received many teachings under the late H.H. Dilgo Khyentse
Rinpoche, Dodrupchen Rinpoche, Nyoshul Khenpo Rinpoche, and
many other great siddhas.
Keeping in view of his wonderful qualities of a master, H.H.
Penor Rinpoche appointed him as Head of Palyul Mother
Monastery in Tibet in 1994. On 14 August 2000, he was
formally enthroned as the lineage holder of The Palyul
Lineage and is now the 12th Throne Holder of The Palyul
Lineage. Equipped with inconceivable wisdom, modesty, grace
and boundless compassion, he has vowed to bring peace and
happiness to all sentient beings and spread the supreme
Dharma in the 10 directions. Penor Rinpoche on many
occasions appreciated his efforts in holding the pure
lineage of Palyul tradition and dissemination of Buddha
Dharma in the Land of Snows.
Of the many remarkable qualities that he possesses, the most
striking quality is his strict and pure observance of all
the vows of a monk. He is thus the embodiment of pure
conduct in these degenerate times.

Thousand
Arms Chenrezig Nyung Ne Retreat
For
the first time, His Holiness Karma Kuchen Rinpoche,
the 12th Throne Holder of Palyul Lineage, will leads
the Thousand Arms Chenrezig Nyung Ne Retreat from 3rd to
6th December 2009 in Singapore. It is indeed a great
blessing if one is able to participate and complete the
retreat together with His Holiness.
In
Tibetan, the word “Nyung” means less, “Ne” means remaining.
This means that during this retreat, we reduce our
negativity and, ideally, eliminate negativity entirely.
Nyungne is the most effective course of practices to purify
both environmental pollution and our own faults. The
practice was revealed by Bhikshuni Palmo, a practitioner who
suffered from leprosy. She performed this practice for 12
years in conjunction with Chenrezig (Avalokiteshvara)
practice and become a great siddhi, attaining the Celestial
Body. Nyung Ne involves powerful practice for purification
and the accumulation of positive energy, based on the
practice of Avalokiteshvara. It involves maintaining the
eight Mahayana precepts, fasting (abstain from eating &
drinking), prostrations and silence on the second day.
Practitioners will recite the six syllable mantra: Om
Mani Padme Hung. The mantra purifies the six seeds of
the six realms within oneself and, furthermore, has the
effect of pacifying the suffering of all beings.
The
eight Mahayana Precepts are:
l.
No killing
2. No stealing
3. No sex
4. No telling lies
5. No drinking alcohol
6. No sitting in high seats
7. No evening meals
8. No idle chatter, singing, dancing, makeup or ornaments
The
merit for practicing Nyung Ne is immeasurable. If one
becomes ill during the retreat, this purifies the karma that
caused one to be reborn in the hell realm (if you maintain
the Nyung Ne vows). If one become torpid, sleepy or
depressed but continued the retreat, this purifies the karma
that caused one to be reborn in the animal realm. If one
suffers from hunger or thirst, this purifies the karma that
caused one to be reborn as a hungry ghost.
