The
Bodhicitta
'Bodhi' is Sanskrit for Enlightenment and
'Citta' means Mind. Bodhicitta refers to the wish to
attain enlightenment for the benefit of all sentient
beings. The teaching will explain the meaning of
bodhicitta and how one can generate bodhicitta.
The
Compassion
Compassion is the strength that arises
out of seeing the true nature of suffering in the world.
It
is wanting others to be free from
suffering. The teaching will explain the meaning of
compassion and how one can generate compassion.
The
Prajnaparamita
Prajnaparamita is Sanskrit for "supreme
transcendent wisdom”, "the great emptiness”, "the true
nature of all phenomena” or "the absolute truth”. It has
been translated in many ways. All these names refer to
the ultimate level of every teaching given by Buddha
Shakyamuni. It is the profound essence of the Mahayana,
and in the Vajrayana it is the very basis of every
practice. The teaching will explain the meaning of
Prajnaparamita.
The Eight
Offerings & Prostration
The eight offering are the offering of
water to cleanse the mouth or face, water to wash the
feet, flowers, incense, lamp, fragrance and food. This
is made to the enlightened beings in many practices or
on the shrine. By making these offering, we can
accumulate both merits and wisdom. The teaching will
explain the significance of making the eight offering.
Prostration is made towards the images of the Buddhas, a teacher or the Three
Jewels. Where one will thinks that you are bowing to the actual Buddha, the
actual Dharma and actual Sangha. The teaching will explain the significance of
the prostration and the actual way of doing it.
