MARCH & APRIL 2006 ISSUE

Riwo Sang Chöt
(15 January 2006, 10am - 12pm)

Riwo Sang Chöt, “The Mountain of Burnt Offering”, is a form of smoke offering made to all the Buddhas, Deities, Dharma Protectors and Dakinis.  It was a terma teaching concealed by Guru Rinpoche in order to benefit the future generations. He gave explicit prophecies regarding the future manifestation of this sacred teaching, and accordingly, it was revealed by Terton Lhatsun Namkha Jigme.

This powerful puja enables participants to accumulate merits and blessings. It facilitates the purification of our bad karma, sicknesses and obstacles, paying off the karmic debts of our previous lives, as well as increasing wealth and life spans for our present and future lives.

Venerable Khenpo Jurme Kunzang Rinpoche will be leading this event on 15th January between 10am to 12 noon in our Centre.  Interested participants can contribute $15 (Individual), $50 (Family) or $80 (Company) for the purchase of smoke offering items such as biscuits, fruits, butter, incense, milk and etc. that are required for this event.

Vajrakilaya Gutor
(24 - 26 January 2006)

The Vajrakilaya Gutor is a ritual for pacifying negativities and eliminating obstacles of the current year for a smooth new year ahead.

Venerable Khenpo Jurme Kunzang Rinpoche will be presiding over the three-days Vajrakilaya Gutor.  The ritual will be performed according to the Terma text of Terton Ratna Lingpa. During the ritual, there will be prayer sessions with tsok offerings.  The Lamas will make a large Torma (in the form of Vajrakilaya) together with 46 retinue Tormas representing various sacred hand emblems for this particular event.

At the end of the three-days ritual, the Tormas will be burnt, symbolizing the purification of our obstacles and negativities.  The schedule of this ritual is set out as follows: -

Amitayus Long Life Prayers
(27 January 2006, 10am - 12pm)

Amitayus Buddha (the Buddha of long life, merits and wisdom) is considered the Sambhogakaya aspect of the widely known Amitabha Buddha.  The main practice of Amitayus is to prolong or extend one's lifespan.  Longevity is seen as a contributing condition that will allow us more time and opportunity to practice the Dharma so that we can fulfill our true human potential - the achievement of ultimate happiness. It is therefore very important to do the Amitayus Long-life practice.

Ven. Khenpo Jurme Kunzang Rinpoche will be leading the Amitayus long life prayers in our centre on 27th January from 10am – 12 noon.

Lüd Tangwa
(27 January 2006, 2pm - 5pm)

The ritual of Lüd Tangwa is performed to eradicate untimely death due to obstacles caused by evil spirits & other negativities.

During this ritual, participants will place their cut nails, hair, unwashed worn clothing, len-chag (a type of mold used for rubbing on unwell body parts) into a receptacle (Lüd) containing a figurine of a human being. The figurine actually represents the obstacles and negativities of participants, just like the various substances that we place into the Lüd.  Other offerings like food and etc are also placed into the Lüd, with the aim of pacifying the evil spirits and other negativities.

Traditionally, at the end of this ritual, the Lüd will be thrown at crossroads, but due to legal constraints here, the Lüd will be burnt instead, thus eliminating all causes of untimely death.

Ven. Khenpo Jurme Kunzang Rinpoche will be presiding over the Lüd Tangwa ritual on 27th January, from 2 – 5pm

Khatag Offering to His Holiness Penor Rinpoche
(28 January 2006, 10.30pm - midnight)

On 28th January at 10.30pm, there will be some short prayers followed by a session of khatag (Tibetan silk scarves) offerings to the portrait of His Holiness Penor Rinpoche around midnight.

Do join us in this meaningful event to receiving blessings and welcome the Chinese Lunar New Year!
