RIWO SANG CHÖT

Riwo Sang Chöt, “The Mountain of Burnt Offering”, is a form of smoke offering made to all the Buddhas, Deities, Dharma Protectors and Dakinis. It was a terma teaching concealed by Guru Rinpoche in order to benefit the future generations. He gave explicit prophecies regarding the future manifestation of this sacred teaching, and accordingly, it was revealed by Terton Lhatsun Namkha Jigme.

This powerful puja enables participants to accumulate merits and blessings. It facilitates the purification of our bad karma, sicknesses and obstacles, paying off the karmic debts of our previous lives, as well as increasing wealth and life spans for our present and future lives.

Our centre will conduct the puja on 1st January between 10am to 12pm. Participants may register for the puja at $10 for Individual, $20 for Family or $50 for Company. The registration included offering items like biscuits, fruits, butter, milk and etc.

EMPOWERMENTS BY H.E. TULKU GYANG KHANG RINPOCHE

Our centre is pleased to receive the visit of H.E. Tulku Gyang Khang Rinpoche in this January. Tulku will confer the Vajrapani Empowerment on 09/01 (8pm) and Thousand Armed Chenrezig Empowerment on 10/01 (8pm) in our centre.

Vajrapani Empowerment

Date: 09/01/2009 (Friday)
Time: 8.00 pm

Vajrapani (from Sanskrit vajra, "thunderbolt" or "diamond" and pani, lit. "in the hand") is one of the earliest bodhisattvas of Mahayana Buddhism. He is the protector and guide of the Buddha, and rose to symbolize the Buddha's power. Vajrapani was used extensively in Buddhist iconography as one of the three protective deities surrounding the Buddha. Each of them symbolizes one of the Buddha's virtues: Manjusri (the manifestation of all the Buddhas' wisdom), Avalokitesvara (the manifestation of all the Buddhas' compassion) and Vajrapani (the manifestation of all the Buddhas' power).

On the popular level, Vajrapani, Holder of the Thunderbolt Scepter (symbolizing the power of compassion), is the Bodhisattva who represents the power of all the Buddhas, just as Avalokitesvara represents their great compassion, Manjusri their wisdom, and Tara their miraculous deeds. For the yogi, Vajrapani is a means of accomplishing fierce determination and symbolizes unrelenting effectiveness in the conquest of negativity. His taut posture is the active warrior pose (pratayalidha), based on an archer's stance but resembling the en garde position in Western fencing. His outstretched right hand brandishes a vajra and his left hand deftly holds a lasso - with which he binds demons. He wears a skull crown with his hair standing on end. His expression is wrathful and he has a third eye. Around his neck is a serpent necklace and his loin cloth is made up of the skin of a tiger, whose head can be seen on his right knee.

Vajrapani practice is excellent to burn away afflictive emotions and obscurations. This practice also protects the surrounding environment from negative weather related circumstances, which we are all experiencing due to climate changes.

Thousand Armed Chenrezig Empowerment

Date: 10/01/2009 (Saturday)
Time: 8.00 pm

Chenrezig is the embodiment of all the love and compassion of all the Buddhas of the past, present, and future. He is a great Bodhisattva who continually benefits beings. With his 1,000 arms he continuously and compassionately benefits sentient beings in whatever ways are needed. Hence, he is regarded as the source of all blessings.

The practice of Chenrezig accomplishes all activities and wishes on both the worldly and spiritual levels.

Date

Time
25/01
(Sun)
10.00am - 12.00pm
1.00pm - 3.30pm

Amitayus Buddha (the Buddha of long life, merits and wisdom) is considered the Sambhogakaya aspect of the widely known Amitabha Buddha.  The main practice of Amitayus is to prolong or extend one's lifespan.  Longevity is seen as a contributing condition that will allow us more time and opportunity to practice the Dharma so that we can fulfill our true human potential - the achievement of ultimate happiness. It is therefore very important to do the Amitayus Long-life practice.

The ritual of Lüd Tangwa is performed to eradicate untimely death due to obstacles caused by evil spirits & other negativities.

During this ritual, participants will place their cut nails, hair, unwashed worn clothing, len-chag (a type of mold used for rubbing on unwell body parts) into a receptacle (Lüd) containing a figurine of a human being. The figurine actually represents the obstacles and negativities of participants, just like the various substances that we place into the Lüd.  Other offerings like food and etc are also placed into the Lüd, with the aim of pacifying the evil spirits and other negativities.

Traditionally, at the end of this ritual, the Lüd will be thrown at crossroads, but due to legal constraints here, the Lüd will be burnt instead, thus eliminating all causes of untimely death.
